Tim Hickey - Professional Tap Dancer
Tim J Hickey began acting at age twenty-one, then took up tap dancing at the age of twenty-four after seeing 42nd Street on Broadway and being inspired by Jerry Orbach and the cast. He studied dance in Boston at Gold Studios with Rhee and Rennie Gold, then with their mother Sherry, who suggested to him the moniker “Tim Taps”. He continued studying rhythm-tap with Jimmy “Sir Slyde” Mitchell at Leon Collins' Tappers Paradise, and swing and acrobatic jitterbug with Bob Thomas.
Tim has performed world wide and now fronts his own 7 piece swing band 'Nickel Pot Joe' which plays original music written by Tim and vintage music of the 20's 30's and 40's Tim sings, plays ukulele and tap dances with this band.
The band is comprised of some of the top musicians in Seattle including: Eric Verlinde - piano; Frank Seeberger - guitar; Mike Barnett - bass; Adam Kessler - drums; Ron Barrow - trumpet; Bill Anthony - trombone; Jack Klitzman - reeds.
"Shabba Doo Dat", Tim's first album will be released toward the end of 2013.
